I love Halloween

Still haven’t put up my decorations… but I really do love Halloween.

Thursday was nail day, and I went a little nuts:

China Glaze Flying Dragon with polka dots of OPI’s Tangerine Scene. And yes, they’ve already gotten a good bit of attention.

And the toes…

More Flying Dragon with spider & web artwork on just the big toes.

And I signed up for a crazy quilting class this Saturday.

You can’t wear it, but that is the only thing wrong with it that I can find. The model is embroidered with Weeks Dye Works, but the shop model is done up in black & gold print fabric and embroidered with gold threads and orange ribbons. I bought black & gold fabric myself, and I’m not 100% sure what I’m going to do for the embroidery. I figure I’ll just take all my Weeks & Kreniks with me and decide on the fly. I won’t complete the project in class (at least I don’t think it would be possible) but I do want to get a plan fairly well set by the end of class.

I also took my last needleturn applique class. I want to get a bit more done before I post another picture of my Gingerbread Boy applique, but I am happy with how he’s turning out. And while I was at the shop I picked up my starter kit and first two blocks for my Merry Christmas block of the month quilt.

There are a zillion buttons for this, and some of them are JABC buttons. All the fabrics layed out at bottom are the common fabrics, and with every chart packet I will also get more fabric that is specific to that block. The only thing I did not get was the thread pack. It was 99% dmc, with 2 Kreniks and 6 other metallics (Renaissance Threads, Sprinkles – which strangely enough I do own a couple). But I was not going to pay the mark up on a kit of dmc. Buying all the metallics on my own I’ll save money.

I did start work on the October block of Crabby while watching the two finale episodes of Project Runway.

I have also posted all over the place but I’m in need of a solo that is close to this one:

It is highly mottled and mostly medium dirt brown with dull greens and touches of yellow green. I need approx. a fat quarter and it needs to be 28ct. linen. I bought it from Silkweaver around March of this year. So if anyone out there bought one of its cousins and is willing to part with it (I’m willing to pay or trade) please get in touch with me. And yes, I did email Silkweaver, she doesn’t have another one like it hanging around and since it uses so many different dyes she doesn’t think she can make a match.

That’s about it, hopefully next post I’ll have a new hat to show off.

  2. Love the nails!

I’m learning needleturn applique as well. I want to do a Baltimore Album quilt someday. 🙂
