The Learning Curve…

it is going to be steep. I basted G.B. this afternoon:

Looking like a glorious mess, (but that’s what it’s supposed to look like) with the edge flipped over so you can see the cute as snot backing.

Two bent needles, a headache, and a finger badly stabbed only once:

Eight lines of quilting done. I counted, 27 more to go. Not counting the borders and the applique himself.

A closer look:

And the back:

Hmmm, too big, too small, too far apart, too close together. Yup, it’s a beginner’s piece. šŸ˜€ By the last line I did I was starting to show some progress, and that’s what this piece is about, I’m calling that a win.

And everyone who likes this little guy, my LQS The Feathered Star now has him available as a chart pack with his girlfriend included.

And the Thursday mani:

Pic, not so great, in person it is fabulous. Don’t Toy With Me by OPI; it’s one of the new for the holidays colors this year. Considering my mood the past few days it should be don’t f*ck with me… but that’s what happens when the world is less than perfect and I’m still stuck with this cold & headache.

I think you are *way* too critical of your work. It looks great to me!

You would die if you saw my fingernails right now. Most of them are cut off, and I have a bunch of cracks and snags. I’m a total mess.

My grandmother quilts (or at least she did until a few years ago) and your work looks great. If you didn’t have the too short/too long/etc, who would know it was hand made??

I love that OPI! My “default” color is “I’m Not Really a Waitress” (a lovely rich red) so this one is right up my alley. I may have to find a bottle before next week’s appointment!

  3. Abi says:

Love the quilt! Love the mani too. šŸ™‚ I’m with Melissa. My nails are all cracked right now. Where’s that tin of Burt’s Bees nail cream when you need it?

I love your Ginger Boy. You’re doing great on him.
    And your mani looks great.
I wish I could get nail polish to stay on my nails for longer than a day. lol
