Eighty bazillion hours later…

and this is all I have to show for it.

House, incomplete. That still needs the second checkerboard color. Border, not finished. Grass – not even started. 1 block a month on HoHRH – laughable. I am going to have to change my planning around if I’m going to finish this year. It’s going to have to be a focus piece, unless some miracle happens and I start to stitch faster ’cause the blocks don’t get any smaller. I wish I had been keeping track of hours on this one, that way I could use it as a rough estimate of how long each block is going to take. Right now I’m thinking that I’m going to have to stitch on HoHRH 1 hour per day every single day until that month’s block is done. It’s not that I don’t like the piece, I do. It’s just a lot more work than I thought.

Raise The Roof needs to come out with another 12 block project.

  1. Well, so far, so good. You already stitch a million times faster than I do, so no good advice. I’ll just admire.

Hey, girl, I can RELATE! I’ve been working on mine off and on for over two years. I’m beginning to wonder if I should consider it a UFO. Those blocks take forever and three days to stitch, don’t they? Hang in there….maybe one day we’ll both have a HOHRH finish to share. 😉 You’re braver than me. At least you’ve already stitched the date. I left that part blank. LOL

    Hugs,
    Carolyn

It is looking good so far!

I have Shores staring at me, asking when I will start it. These designs are so cool.

It’s looking stunning! I’m half way through Village of Hawk Run Hollow and I’m with you on not realising how long those blocks take until you’ve started. I thought I’d be able to stitch one a month easily, but no way… not unless I stitched on that and only that for the whole month (with my sometimes limited stitching time that is).

I’ll look forward to seeing more of your progress!

Looks wonderful but I can see where all that work comes in. That checkerboard stitching takes up so much time.

I underestimate how long stuff is going to take ALL the time. At least it is something you’re enjoying though!

  7. Autumn says:

Well you can use the fact that you stitched in the year already as a motivational factor LOL

I’m working on Shores of Hawk Run Hollow – I also set myself a goal of one block per month, but it’s slow going. I know the end result of having each block done is wonderful, but it seems like it takes forever to get there.

Your progress on this block looks great, anyway!

  9. Michelle says:

I think those blocks are deceptive. Chatelaines are the same way…I always think it will take way less time than it actually does. You could track the time on the next block and see how long it takes. Looks great though!
