So close I can taste it

But first, from last post. No Annette, you are not the only one. 🙂 When I had that sword stitched up and took a look at it my first thought was “phallic much”. lol

BBP is thisclose to being finished.

Remember my fabric is dull green, green-blue, and tan. Think Atlantic Ocean colors.

Crystals & beads oh my!

Can I tell you how much I love the fact that the seahorses are different and not mirror images of each other?

Cutie!

Now, why is BBP nearly done. As you can see her hand is still empty. When I started her I thought the shell was ok, but I felt she needed something more than that. My first thought was a big honking pearl. My second thought came to me while I was beading the comb in her hair. I remembered something called shisha embroidery that I had seen in a craft blog. Since BBP is combing her hair shouldn’t she have a mirror? Of course she should. I hunted down some real glass shisha mirrors (I had to order them from England), they came with cheap “frames” and I am using them in the pictures below – but I plan on stitching my mirror down like the tutorial shows and not use the frames. I’m pretty sure I’m going to use gold Krenik for the mirror frame and toss in some more beading too. I plan on practicing on a scrap piece soon – how soon… depends I might be crazy busy the next few days.

Anyway here are some test shots, I’d like your opinions on round vs square. The round is slightly smaller than the square.

Or if you think my idea for the mirror is totally cracked out, let me know that too. 😉

I like the mirror idea (and may have to steal it when my own BPP gets to that point). I prefer the round as it mimics the “curvy” elements (sea-pegasi, her tail, hair curls, etc).

As for ATS – we think so much alike it’s scary sometimes LOL

That mirror is absolutely perfect! How creative! I think the mirror is such an obvious choice seeing how she is combing her hair. I have a friend that likes changing things up and I know she reads your blog, so she’ll like the changes that you made! I personally like the round red mirror myself or at least the round shape. Then again, the gold kind of goes with the comb! But it’s such a great idea. And about ATS, I was kind of thinking the same thing with the sword, but didn’t know if you’d go there twice. My friends and I are still talking about your very correct A&E!

Wow, BBP is looking great. You’re almost done and it’s beautiful. I agree with Annette, the round mirror looks better (imho) since it complements the curviness of the seaweed (?) she’s also holding. Wow…that is such a great idea!

Where do you get all your amazing ideas from – brilliant.
I prefer the round mirror – IMHO it just goes better with the picture.
She is stunning, love all the sparkly beads 🙂

Gorgeous! I have to say I really like the square. What a neat idea!

  6. Love the mirror idea! I also like the round one better. It makes me think more of a traditional compact shape than the square one.

  7. Andie says:

Wow shes just stunning! I love the mirror and really like the round one 😀

    Those seahorses look awesome!

I love the color of the round one – but would prefer a the square one. The square looks more like a mirror then the round one. But I’m not so keen on that yellow on this project. That wasn’t any help wasn’t it…lol

I like that the seahorses aren’t mirror images too. I’m partial to the round mirror. 🙂 It is really loverly Melissa!

    Yep, round.
