Pretty Pretty Princess

Bluebeard’s Princess Mirabella Martina (she told me that was her name, seems she’s a fan of Chatelaine) is finished!

Photographed in natural light. I still think it washed the fabric out a little bit. *sigh* Enough already next time she gets a photo shot will be when she’s framed.

I did take some close ups of the mirror (thanks everyone for the input).

(photo taken inside) I ended up having to use the plastic frame that with the mirror. I cut off the thread that was covering it and redid it with the gold Krenik braid that was used in the crown at the top of the piece. I used a blanket stitch all the way around. I couldn’t make the mirror work using the shisha technique. I’m pretty sure that was due to the thickness of the mirror. I toyed with the idea of adding a chain stitch around the mirror and then embellishing that with more beads but dh said it was good the way it was, and I agreed.

A better shot of the mirror, sorry no flash on the Krenik, but you know IRL it flashes.

And one last shot that I loved. Dappled in the sunlight coming through the dinning room window.

  6. Martina is da bomb! I, who do not do mermaids, adore her! Love the fabric so much, the seahorses even more, and the mirror is a fabulous touch! Oh, and while I’m sharing, I’ll confess that I had a similar thought to Annette’s about Adam and the angel’s sword. She articulated it much better! LMAO!

I think you were very sensible beading her as you went, the beading was a pain in the bum at the end!!

(as a side note, just wanted to let you know that I have had trouble posting comments on your blog using my safari browser, it doesn’t seem to recognise the security codes??)

Missy… it’s GORGEOUS! I saw your post on the Wagon BB. I had to come immedately to your blog to check out the other pictures. After I saw yours I had to hunt down and order some Shisha Mirrors myself. I hope you don’t mind but I intend to copy what you did. I think it was just so perfect for this design. You’re right, she needed a mirror! It’s just stunning!!!!! Yeah!!!!!
