My reward

for completing all the stitching (stitching! not finishing) on my Just Nan exchange was going back to Caribbean. I love love love this piece so much. With the added bonus that most (all but 2) of my back ordered silks have arrived. Alas, one of the 2 is used in part 2 – you can’t win them all.

Last night I completed part 1. This first picture shows the whole, and shows off the fabric rather nicely I think.

Ok, the sparklies aren’t showing – but the mottling is showing. IRL it isn’t quite as distinct, it is antique white and the palest of beach sands.

Oooo we got some sparkles in this shot! And all the black silk & pink metallic in the center is complete now too.

I did find one mistake (mine not the chart’s), the gold bead underneath the cube on the north section – I attached it vertically instead of horizontally. I know, it’s just one bead but it’s going to drive me crazy until I fix it. I can not let this alone, if I did every time I looked at this for the rest of my life that one bead would mock me.

  1. Love the colors in this part 2 motif! I think it would make a cool ornament or small something. Those colors HAVE to be fun to stitch with! Can’t wait to see more!

Your math questions are too difficult this early in the morning. That’s looking gorgeous. I love the colors. I think you picked a perfect fabric.

  3. Sara says:

Beautiful! I love the colors in this one and can’t wait to see more.

Wow…that looks great. Tried to find that “wrong” bead but couldn’t. But lol…I know it would drive me also crazy.
Your stitching looks perfect as usual and I love the colors of this piece. It will be a delight to follow your progress. But then again, I like all of your WIP’s. 🙂

OMG, love, love, love the colors in this piece! I think you picked a good fabby too…reminiscent of sparkly sand.

The bead where? I got lost with the directions and couldn’t see if but I know what you mean. I’m frogging an entire border because I was off one thread. It was driving me nuts! 🙂

I’m lusting after this one. My friend is doing this and is is stunning in real life. Can’t wait to see more of your progress!

Very beautiful! I had one bead attached a different way on my Fairy Idyll and did not notice it until it was in the frame and behind glass. That thing mocked me so much I sent it to live with my sister who is perfectly happy with it and The Kiss, which I did before I knew to cross all my Xs in the same direction! She thinks they are done equally well and thinks she is giving me a compliment when she tells me that. LOL

Missy… it’s looking gorgeous… can’t wait to see more WIP pictures!

There should be chorus singing while looking at this, it’s magnificent.

Yes, definitely fix that bead. It would drive me insane too, if it was mine.

  10. Absolutely stunning! I can’t wait to see this piece as you make more progress on it. For the longest time I didn’t “get” everyone’s love of Chatelaine designs. These days I do, much to the chagrin of my credit card. 😉

Oooh – those colours are just gorgeous! Help – I’m trying not to succumb to Chatelaines at the moment – I have 3 Chatelaine WIPs I’m currently neglecting and several other designs in my stast, fairies calling to me from the bulletin board – I don’t need another one! LOL
