Little bit here & there

I really haven’t been wasting much time the past few days. It seems like I’m always doing something. Stitching, cleaning, reading, nails, laundry, plotting…

First up the MiraRR. I do want to make something a bit clearer, yes the pixies are smallish but they are not small enough to fit entirely into the 30 x 80 frames. If you click on Mirabilia RR in the categories or go to my album you can see the previous MiraRR I was part of and you’ll see how bits & pieces of the charts are used.

From left to right: Sweet Pea, Iris, and Poppy. These gals are the middle row. Top row will be Pansy, Tiger Lily, and Morning Glory. The bottom row will be Fern, Lilac (which I will stitch), and Lily.Ā  I’m hoping I’m going to be happy with the frames, as usual my cunning plan was not thought all the way through. First #4 braid… Tiger, Iris, and Poppy all use #011. On Tiger & Poppy 011 is my only choice. Poppy’s second braid is a silver so that’s a no go and Tiger only uses 011. I used 011 on Iris because her secondary braid was hot pink and I just couldn’t use that for her frame, the chart only uses maybe a dozen stitches of it as spots in her wings. And Lily… she doesn’t use braid at all in her chart, so I’m going to have to come up with something complimentary. I’ll pull her dmc and beads and see what speaks to me.Ā  But other than that… it’s going ok. Just ok because once again my math skills fail, and I had to rip out a hours worth of work on Poppy.

I built a fence on HoHRH.

Every little bit counts right?

Today I’m hitting the quilt shop to talk about quilting for the baby quilt and pick up my last BOM for the Merry Christmas quilt. And probably the batting for the baby quilt no matter what. I’ve got a 20% coupon that I need to use by the first week of June and she’s running a sale right now. So I’m not breaking my 50 Challenge Rules, but I am pushing up against them pretty hard.

Speaking of challenges, my first 25 books are read! Woo hoo! My reward for that is 5 new books (new to me, I’m hitting the used book store). I did break a little rule here, I found one of my FAVORITE books was available on the Kindle for just $3.99 – never mind I own a paper copy, I had to have it ( the book is Jane’s Warlord). Today I will be buying only 4 books. See? Just a little break in the rules. I am going to start another book challenge, I’ll do 25 again. Checking my library holds & currently checked out at least half will be from there but I am going to try to make at least 10 books be from my own collection. I only have 3 book cases threatening to over flow again.

Today or tomorrow I have to finish up my Just Nan exchange. It is mostly complete, I’ve just been procrastinating on the last few bits. That’s it for today, gotta hit the shops & two grocery stores. And be ready at 5:30 to go to a school awards assembly for Winston. He’s getting an award tonight, not 100% sure for what yet – probably for all around awesomeness. lol (it’s mostly like for math since his math teacher called last week to make sure we were attending)

The RR looks mah-velous!! I think I have finally settled on a layout and fabric, just need to get stitching on the (far simpler) frames šŸ™‚

Congrats on finishing your first 25 Books! I seem to be stalled – time to pull out a much-loved book for a re-read to get me back on track. I wonder if I can scare up my copy of Jane’s Warlord? LOL

    Congratulations Winston!!

I second Annette’s assessment of the Mira RR – mah-velous! šŸ™‚ Congrats to Winston. šŸ™‚

Love the bordering on your RR Melissa. It is going to be beautiful. Well, I looked through all my charts and not a pixie in the bunch. Will have to put the word out and see what happens. Last time I put the word out, my friends sent me patterns for mermaids and I ended up with 5 to use for the RR.
Yep, fences count as heavy stitching.
Good for you for sticking to your 25 book challenge. I love to read, but rarely seem to find the time any more. Stitching seems to take all my time and quilting and playing with the grandkids and spedning time with my stitching friends – you know how it goes

Congrats on finishing 25 books! That’s awesome. I wish I had more time to read (and stitch). I love how all of your WIPs are looking, especially Caribbean and ATS. You are zipping along! I am still wanting Caribbean…it is calling to me!

  5. I am all about a little progress is still progress. I’m about the slowest stitcher on the planet so to me, it looks like you’ve gotten tons done! Can’t wait to see how your RR turns out!

Stitching looks great. I’m anxious to see another Caribbean pic too ever since I found out it has flamingoes.

  7. I’ll admit I didn’t completely follow the problem with the braids. Probably because I’m sleep-deprived right now. But, my two cents: choose what you like and makes you happy. Who cares if the braid matches the braid of the pixie? Sparklie matches sparklie.

And, kudos to Winston and to the Smart Mom who is raising him (OK, we’ll give Dad a thumbs up, too.)

Oh, I’m adding Warlord to my Kindle tonight.

That RR sounds so interesting and I’m pretty sure it will look fantastic. Thanks for the link to the Miralbilias RR’s. They look fantastic. It makes sense now to me. The frames look already pretty and promising.
