White Asparagus

That’s what the tree in Block 6 reminds me of…

Went by the quilt shop today their rates are very reasonable… the long arm lady says she’ll work it in between the big jobs and that she should have it ready soon. I feel good about leaving it with her, I was getting seriously stressed out over doing it myself. One day I’ll get brave, but until then I’ll leave it to the professionals.

And a sign that I was truly meant to be there today, Brenda who taught the OTR class was working and she just happened to have her freshly quilted (by the same lady who will do my baby quilt) OTR. Just let me say, OMFG. The quilting was out of this world. I looked at Kathy (long arm lady) and told her she’ll be doing mine this fall and I wanted it exactly like Brenda’s. The more you look at the quilting on this the more you see. It’s entirely custom and exactly what quilting should be. It highlights the beauty of the piecing and adds it’s own beauty. When I have mine done you’ll be buried under an avalanche of photos. (Cheryl you should come to Houston and visit me & that quilt. The piecing is fit for a beginner. Come, come to the dark side. πŸ˜‰

And Winston’s awards; he earned two. The bigger deal IMHO was the Merit Award in Math. Each teacher can choose up to 3 students for the year to receive the award. They didn’t hand these out in alphabetical order, Winston was her first choice. Win also made the 3.5 (or higher) GPA Honor Roll. He missed the all A’s Roll by not much when you come down to it, and I think he walked out of there wanting the A Honor Roll, hopefully that’ll light a fire under him for next year. Not that a 3.5 GPA is anything to bitch about. lol

Hey, Missy, you were the most recent update on my blog list, so I caught up with you first.

Love your peacock section on ATS. I agree totally with your white asparagus assessment of Block 6 on HoHRH. I never noticed that when I was stitching it.

Of course your quilt will be absolutely fabulous. How could it not be???

Congrats to Winston. I’d love to have 30 of him at school.

Small world moment … I lived in Houston when I was a kiddo. I’m just noticing that you live there. We moved to Colorado from there, and it worked out really well!

grrrr… answer a math question. To recap – Yes, the quilting really adds great texture to a finished top. It’s really worthwhile! πŸ™‚

Yay! I am soooo glad you are letting long arm lady finish your quilt… that way you have more time to stitch (and then of course post pics for me to drool over). See? Double yay!! And as for Winston… triple Yay!!! Congratulations to him for the award and that wonderful GPA he’s earned. πŸ™‚

I know what you’re talking about when you say you were worried about leaving your quilt with someone. I used to be the same way, but after I saw the results (and my failed attempts at making it look right), I’m happy to throw them her way. She does custom work and you stand in total amazement when you get them back! Congratulations to Winston for his academic rewards!

  5. YAY for Winston!!!! And, if he now has motivation to do even better than great next year, what more can you ask?!?! WTG!

But, I am seriously ticked at you. You saw a completed OTR, drooled on it in person, and FAILED to take pictures for me?! Really, woman.

And, don’t think I haven’t seriously contemplated the dark side. I’m pretty sure I could do the hand embroidery. Might take a decade, but I could do it. It’s the piecing and actual quilting that scares me.

  6. WTG Winston! πŸ™‚

I was showing off the pics of your OTR on my iPhone Tuesday night at the LNS. One of the other ladies I know from the Tuesday night stitch group is getting ready to start OTR. She brought in her panels that night to show them off.

I’m now SO curious and looking forward to see that quilt. And also congrats to Winston for his awards

Does the long arm lady know you call her that? LOL
