It’s a lantern. What you thought my first shot would be a whole fairy? I started on the far right hand side. I’ll stitch the lanterns and then move on to The Leader of The Pack Fairy. I like it, I think the colors of the lantern look very bold and glowy on the the fabric. I hope the fairies look as good.
I spent most of this weekend working on Caribbean. It called, I answered. Part 6 is done!
Hmmm… those clouds. Look again, they are there. I’m torn… too light? IRL I can see them from a distance of about 6 feet. They’re stitched with the Fragipani which I bitched about previously. Seems I knew what I was talking about. Maybe I should frog them and re-do in a blue; but this is me – put your money on them staying the way they are.Ā I didn’t like the gaps that the chart left in the half stitches under the boat, and since this is my Caribbean and not Chatelaine’s Caribbean Model, I filled them in.
And why do I love this piece so much? It’s like I’m making my own souvenir of my trip to the BIV this past February.
Wowza!! That really pops! I love it. All your stitching looks beautiful. š
Oh yea…that lantern does pop on the fabric. Great progress on Caribbean!
Great latern!!!
What concerns the Caribbean, if I was you I would change the color of the clouds. Isn’t Frangipani an off white of some sort…from SNC if I’m not totally mistaken. Could be so wrong here and way to lazy to look it all up…lol.
Anyway, I would have a look into your light blues…may be something with a tad light grey into it as well. Thread Gatherer should have couple to choose from, and you probably have heaps in your stash…OR even better…a color that gets used in the design anyway.
I changed couple of times the colors from Martina’s design because the stitching became invisible on my fabric. Curious what you will do…lol
Ooooh, that lantern is pretty on that fabric!
As for Caribbean, I would probably change the clouds as well. I honestly didn’t even see them until you mentioned possibly changing then. I went back and looked at the photo more closely and then spotted them. That having been said, I personally avoid frogging like the plague. š
I love it! The material is perfect! May I ask what it is? Such lovely stitching!!!!
I love the lantern on the fabbie š I can’t wait to see more š
Carribean is coming along well – great start on the fairy!
Love your start on the fairies. š The oranges really pop on that fabric.
I always fill in stuff like those half stitches under the boat too. š
Oooh, Caribbean reminds me of Harbour Island in the Bahamas … wish I were there.
God it’s gorgeous on that fabric. Love that choice! I can’t wait to see more. This design reminds me so much of a John Singer Sargent painting called Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose. I think it’s the lanterns that do me in.
Such beautiful stitching. The colors of the lantern in the fairies design are outstandng!
You have got to stop! Are you trying to hurt me? I’m going to have to stitch Carribean Mystery now. Damn. Your’s is just looking so great. I would say leave the clouds because if you can see them from a distance that’s all that matters. People will be seeing it from a distance, not walking right up to it, at least I don’t think people do that(well maybe I do but it’s so rare to see stitching in other people’s houses I get a little excited)
Love that lantern, another must stitch.
Let the clouds stay as is – they have a wispy touch to them. And that fabric is great for the Fairies – the color just pops on it.
What a beautiful start you’ve made with your fairies project. I just love those colors together!!
Wow, that lantern is gorgeous; so much better than the model pic. I love your Caribbean progress too. š I just joined that group this week; now I just need more hours in the day…
