2 Down 4 To Go

I am referring to my 101 Quilt Class. I finished up class 2 this morning. Class 6 posted this week.

It’s not completely assembled yet, that’s next lesson. Quilting 101.  😉 But I’m happy. Still not 100% perfect, but I think I did a good job. And I did it without any swearing or tears – that’s a win for me.

Look what I did with the scraps.

A little (approx 5 x 3) crushed walnut shell filled (I’ve got tons of this stuff left & I bought the small bag) pincushion. Isn’t it cute? Well it could be cute & yours. If you’ve ever said anything nice about my quilting attempts or even thought something nice leave a comment on this post (if you’ve thought, “omg i can’t believe she posts pictures of that crap she made” don’t leave a comment lol)  and Monday I’ll pick a winner.

I really do like those colours together. Honestly, when I saw the picture the other day, I wasn’t sure. But, wow, they look great.

  2. Jennifer says:

I wish I had the guts to start quilting. It is something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m just afraid that I will lose precious stitchy time! Maybe I’ll have enough time to do both one day.

Congrats on your color picks….they look great! Can’t wait to see the whole quilt.

  3. Debbie says:

I give you an A on your quilting attempt. It looks fantastic and I’ll let you in on a little secret – rarely are quilts perfect! But your squares look perfect to me! Isn’t quilting fun??

  4. Valerie says:

Love the alternating pink, blue and green colors. Great job and that pincushion is SO cute! Reminds me I have to track down crushed walnut shells somewhere this weekend! Pet store?! I’ll have fun looking…just have to hope I don’t come home with a kitten! lol

  5. Kat says:

Those colors are lovely! I have always wanted to quilt but never had the room. Hopefully soon!

  6. Danielle says:

I am always in awe of quilting and I would love to have this pincushion! Please enter me. Thanks!

  7. Kathy K says:

    Too, too funny. 🙂

Actually I really like the pastel color combo you are using and I admire anyone who can quilt. But since I can’t draw or sew a stright line to save my soul I will admire everyone else’s quilting. Including yours. LOL

The pincushion is lovely and I would be honored to win it.

  8. Annette says:

I recognize those fabrics…. 🙂 They look great together! Good job!

  9. doris says:

You did a great job! And you did another great job with the scraps. I bought one small bag of crushed walnut shells, and it’ll probably be the only bag I need ’til I kick the bucket.

  10. Wow! Even before you said you’d be giving this little beauty away, I was thinking how darn cute the pincushion was and that if quilting doesn’t work out for you (but of course it will), you could always make and sell these. I think it’s adorable and look how straight your lines are! YGG! The quilt will be so pretty when done! And, of course, I’d love to give this pretty little pincushion a home in my craft room!

  11. Blu says:

Love the fabric. It’s very summery!

  12. Michelle says:

Love it, it’s turning out so beautifully! Those fabrics are perfect. And that little pincushion is just so darn cute – I’d love for it to come and live with me. Are you doing this class online or through your LQS?

  13. beritbunny says:

I’m gonna agree with Silver and admit that I wasn’t *sure* about those colors…but, you win! It looks so cute and I’d love the pincushion! As for the walnut shells; where DOES everyone get those? Petstore in bird section, perhaps?

  14. Patti says:

Well I think it is totally perfect. You should see my quilting – it is not good at all but it will get better given time and patience and I have so much to do before my next class in two weeks time it just isn’t true. So I am going to stay in and quilt after I stitch that is of course. You are doing brilliantly Missy Ann and I congratulate you.

  15. Myra says:

I love the colors you chose and your blocks look great! The teeny pincushion is cute too. :o)

  16. Melissa C. says:

LOL Here goes your comment count again. 😉 I like this combo more than your monochromatic ones – I just couldn’t get past that pink gingham. The dark pink rose fabric is my favorite.

  17. Katrina says:

Beautiful, Missy! I can’t wait to see the finished quilt!

Thanks so much for sharing your adventures in crafting with us!

  18. Kathy A says:

Crap, did I hear crap – sign me up for that!!! Oh wait, it’s a lovely pillow that Missy made. Okay, sign me up for that instead. I like it better. lol

  19. Ok, that little pincushion is too darn cute! Please enter me in the drawing. You class project is looking great!

  20. So, I’m pretty sure I’m a charter member of the Melissa’s Quilting Fan Club. I have to live vicariously through you because I have no time for a new hobby no matter how much I admire it. The pincushion is adorable. I’d love it to come live at my house, LOL. I really do like the fabrics you ended up choosing for this project. While my Diva would die if she heard me say this, the monochrome was waaay too much pink in one place.
