And I had been so good about posting at least every other day. Anywho… Monday stitched HOE ornie, and I finished it yesterday. Love love love how it turned out. Although I have to say making sure the straight lines on this ornie stayed straight during finishing was a PITA.
While working on my drunkard’s path pieces this week I realized I don’t have a decent pin cushion. I had to use this sad tiny strawberry emery that was store bought. Yesterday I fixed that.
I made it using the Blackbird pumpkin cushion method from two leftover 5″ squares that were bought to make Christmas quilts last year. The frou-frou on top is taken from a Christmas pick decoration. I bought a bag full a couple weeks ago from Michaels. Most of them are covered in glitter, needless to say I couldn’t resist them. You can’t see it in this picture but that red fabric on the underside is a co-ordinate.
Yesterday was rather productive, no I didn’t work on what I should have – but sometimes I need to do for myself a bit. With that in mind I finished a Christmas present. lol No really this had been 95% finished since Christmas last year and I’ve been beyond fed up with the thing mocking me from the closet.
All that was left was sewing the binding. It was already pinned. 20 minutes at the machine and couple hours in front of the tv hand sewing the back side of the binding and it was done. I’m giving Mom HoHRH for Christmas, but there’s no way it’ll be framed by then (yes I know – I’m not done stitching it yet, but I will be by Christmas). With Gingerbread Boy finished she’ll have something to actually open on the day.
Back to the drunkard’s path. I finished piecing all those curves Friday at work (grrr… 4 members came in during my 6-1/2 hr shift; bright side – I was paid to sew). And here are some layout options. Let fly the opinions. (and keep in mind they look a little rough due to not being sewn together and some rather creative seam allowances on my part – it should all work out ok in the end) Did you know there are approx. 64 different layouts for the drunkard’s path? But we’ll choose from these:
IIRC this is called Indiana Rose & with the rose fabric I think it could be a good choice.
This is the traditional drunkard’s path layout. Eh.
Balls. *snort* Eh.
Kinda like this one. Twisty & spiky.
More balls. Yawn.
Twisty center but curvy instead of spiky. Not too bad.
My humps. My humps. My lovely lady lumps.
In conclusion my favorites are Indiana Rose, Twisty & Spiky, & My Lovely Lady Lumps. What do you think?
