Houses of Hawk Run Hollow was finished at 10:50pm (cst) December 31st 2009.
Unwashed, unpressed, and laid across the back of the couch.
Aw… a bunny! Mostly I’m just thrilled that it’s done & that 2009 I put up there in that very first block is true. I’ll be washing & ironing it today between bits of Christmas packing up and putting away. HoHRH is going to my mother – she was bugging me that she needed another big piece (she has Mother’s Tree) for over another couch in her house so I made this her Christmas present. Monday it’ll be off to Jill for framing (I do the labor, Mom pays the framer – which is the other reason she gets this. I can’t afford to frame it right now and it’ll be better off framed and hanging somewhere rather than in limbo with all my other finished but not finished projects.).
For the curious, finished size is 26 -1/4″ x 19-1/2″ approx. It was stitched on a half yard cut of 28ct. French Country Linen in Cashmere using 2 strands of DMC cotton throughout.
Hmmm…. it’s 2010 – what am I going to stitch? 😉 After a brief bout of insanity when Darlene O’Steen’s Berlin Woolwork Sampler was considered, then maybe Indigo Rose’s Desiderata, or should I just pull 12 smallish things from the stash and make them my monthly stitch – this morning The Project called my name. Remember Lizzie Kate’s Double Flips from 2008? Well I’ve had them kitted since late ’08 early ’09 and after the huge amount of work that went into HoHRH I’m ready for something simple and sweet this year. Berlin Woolwork – next year. lol I don’t know if I’ll actually stitch today, Christmas really does need to be put up and I’ve got two books that I’m reading calling my name (Cape Storm & My Dead Body – need to add those to Goodreads too).
I’m not real big on resolutions & such but I will admit to wanting to get more than a couple of my WIPs finished. We’ll see how that goes… Well, Happy New Year everyone & may you get all you wish for (but only the stuff that’s actually good for you).
WOW Missy! You did it! What an accomplishment and what a wonderful piece. I bet you were so excited to finish it. It looks wonderful.
Ah, those two pieces you mentioned have been in my stash for ever. But they are major big pieces. I don’t blame you for wanting to keep it simple!
Happy New Year and again, Congratulations on finishing Houses!!!
Wow, way to go, Missy!! I had no idea the piece was that big. Congrats on a great finish! Have fun with the Double Flips; they work up really fast and turn out really cute.
It looks great! I have been eyeing this piece in my LNS and might just have to cave in this year. Will you post another picture when it is framed? Jill does some terrific work. Happy New Year!
Yay you! 🙂 So glad you made your deadline and it looks marvelous! 🙂
I tried to comment before but I’m dumb. LOL I didn’t get the math right, I misread it. LOL Anyway, I have been following your progress and congratulations on your finish! I want to start this one today. I started the Village one a while back but have not finished it yet. It is in my rotation though. I love all of the HRH patterns.
Huge congratulations on such an amazing finish! I admire your perseverence, as I have real problems finishing large projects.
It’s gorgeous! Congratulations on finishing such a big piece.
I’ll admit I never realized that the verse was actually so morbid~
Woohoo!! Congratulations…it looks fantastic! Perfect way to end off the year! I don’t blame you for wanting something light as your year long this time around. I think I will do Boo Club as a monthly to offset MW.
Happy New Year!
Looks fantastic. Congrats on your finish
What a fantastic way to finish the year, congratulations on your finish!!!
Woo-hoo! Congratulations Missy. Your mother is lucky to be getting this beauty. I started Christmas at HRH at midnight and plan to make it my year-long project.
Congratulations!! What a fabulous finish!
Woohoo! Happy dancing for you!
Oh my gosh! Yeah, you!!!!! It is absolutely wonderful, Missy! I love it and so want it hanging in my home but I dread all that fill-in stitching. It is gorgeous and you should be so proud. No way though I could let it go live in another house!
Happy, Happy Dance! Congrats Missy, you finished the year in fantastic fashion! It looks wonderful and you must be so thrilled (I’m sure your mom is equally thrilled, LOL!)
Looking forward to seeing more of your stitching!
What a great finish! I like the way it looks with the DMC floss.
Damn girl, you did it! Congrats.
I pulled out the fabric and chart for VoHRH today, but chickened out.
Wow; loving it! I hope you are able to show a pic after it returns from the framer’s. Thanks for giving the finished dimensions; I’m always interested in such things.
I knew you could do it! Congratulations – it looks great!
Wow, wow, wow. What an accomplishment on the last day of the year. Congratulations! I was enjoying looking at your progress throughout the year, particularly because my own Houses has come to a stop after house #2. Maybe I’ll be better this year.
Happy New Year to you and your family!
Congratulations on an awesome finish!!
WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Congratulations on a gorgeous finish. Your mom will love it. I can’t wait to see it framed!
Wishing you and yours a happy & healthy 2010.
WoooHooo!!!! It looks amazing! Good for you for finishing your 2009 project. I think a simpler 2010 project is a fine idea.
Belated Happy Birthday! Sorry I missed it. Mom’s impromptu hospital stay has really thrown my world out of whack. Bluebell is so pretty. Looking forward to more of her.
Way to go, Missy!! It’s AWESOME!
Congratulations!
You did a wonderful job…I am just starting her Christmas at hrh….wish me luck. Dianntha
