Gotta do this more than once a week

And away we go:

Top of Mom’s quilt. This weekend I’ll get the backing.

These did not turn out so well. 1. The polka dot strawberry needs to be much larger, pattern suggested 5-1/2″ square, I think it needs more like a 7-1/2″ square. And I inserted the cording in the wrong spot. Boo hiss.

My local quilt shop is closing, I’ve been miserable since I heard. I stopped by and hit the closing sale.

That’s the pattern (Yoyoville by Bunnyhill Designs) & the fabrics (minus the plain white) I’ll be using the make it. The charm squares for the yoyos are Verna which is a modern print and I’m mixing it with 30’s repro prints. Mostly, a couple others jumped in there. But the colors are deep hot pink, blue, green, yellow, orange and a smattering of bunny brown.

I stopped by my LNS and cleaned up in the clearance bins. Everything I bought was from the scrap fabric bins and everything else was 50 or 75% off.

Merry Noel & Counting Bats have the embellishment packs too. 🙂

7 of the 9 pieces of linen were 25cents. Yes they’re ornament size cuts, but TWENTY FIVE CENTS.  The quilting fabrics in front were from the closing sale, 50% off. I been in love with the one on the left since it came in the shop (I bought all she had left) and the Chinese style print will most likely appear on the Welcome To The North Pole quilt. On a Christmas quilt? you’re thinking. Yes, one of the buildings is a Chinese restaurant. Another kit from the quilt shop for a little birthday banner (the book containing the pattern was a gift for my birthday last year). And I stopped at Sally’s and had to buy 3 nail polishes because well it made the wallet free. The reason I went there was that bottle of “instant acrylic”, I’ve read good things about it on the polish blogs. They’re saying it makes your nails super strong.

And last but most certainly not least!

Cheryl gifted me with the kit! of Snow Queen’s Slipper. We’re going to make it a stitch/finish along (maybe next month).  Thank you Cheryl!

Wow girl you have been busy. The old credit card must have been smoking. Love all your new goodies. The Brittercup reindeer really caught my eye and all on clearance. I am so jealous. I wish I lived closer.

  5. Little Cat says:

Such a shame your local shop is closing. You got some lovely stash in the sale though.

Love your bag. What a great idea to make it fold away into a cute strawberry.

  6. Cheryl says:

First, you are more than welcome! As I said, my motives were not pure. I needed a partner in crime! LOL.

Second, I am in love with that Chinese print fabric. Your planned use sounds perfect!

The rest of the haul is amazing. You done good! 😀

Your quilt look fantastic! Wow, you really did clean up at the quilt sale and in the sale bin at the LNS. I LOVE that sale bin!

Whoa! I don’t even know where to start! You sure have cleaned up, girlfriend! Love the fabric you picked up from your LQS. So sad it is closing!

WOW!! WOW WOW WOW! What a fabulous stash haul! I’ve been wondering about the Yoyoville pattern, specifically how to do the circles. Umm, yeah, DUH, it never dawned on me that it used yoyos. LOL I love the fabrics you’ve chosen for it! Did you see their new design at Market–the one with mostly squares? I like it–looks simple–but nice.

I LOVE the quilt top!! Your mom is going to go crazy for it.

Love the new stash–YGG!! Thanks for the mentioning the instant acrylics–I’ve never heard of that before! You’ll have to post what you think about them. I used to get gel nails done but with the recession I’ve had to stop it. Now I don’t wear anything & need to get back into the habit of doing my own nails but hate it when it flakes off too quickly.

I love that quilt. Is is so much like my circle one – great idea for using up scraps (must make a mental note). I think that DD would make this one! And oh my gosh, what a great stash haul. Love the new quilt pattern and all the fabric. Ymmmm.

  11. beritbunny says:

Oh noes not the quilt shop!!!

(Do they have Fig Tree’s Patisserie Jelly Roll? I’m so looking for that damn thing for this:

Also, for Queen’s slipper, are you going ahead with a “Hallowe’en Queen” colourway? I SO hope so. 😛

  12. Michelle says:

I’ve been eyeing that Yoyoville pattern for months now. It is just tooooooo cute! Love the fabrics for it too. Do tell about the instant acrylic. I’m having nail misery right now. So sad about your quilt shop. : (

  13. Brigitte says:

    Absolutely great new stash!

  14. Such a great quilt for your mom, Missy Ann! I got the quilting bug at the bookstore this past week. Bought 5 new quilting magazines that I didn’t need…and carried them and my high hopes home with me. I better get started for his year’s batch for the Baby Grands! It’s so sad that your shop is closing. But, I’ve found that shopping online quilting with Fat Quarters and others works really well, too. ‘though it’s not the same.
All your other “stash and stuff” is awesome. I have a few things you could clean out of my bins here in FL, too, if you wanna make a trip! Hugs. Deb

  15. Anne S says:
