Don’t say a word. I forgot to grab a picture of Mom’s quilt all finished.
Here it is home from the quilter’s.
The binding is scrappy, made from jelly roll leftovers. And of course, if you make binding the cat will show up.
And this is just enough binding. I thought I had made something like 10-12″ extra. Nope, what you see on my fingers is all the excess. Anyway, I’ll ask Mom to send me a picture of it when she gets it. I washed it once before I mailed it and it turned out so crinkly and cute.
We went to see Lois (The Corpse Flower) at the HMNS butterfly exhibit. I’ve been wanting to go there & Lois was the perfect excuse. She wasn’t blooming yet when we went but it was still fun.

On the cross stitch front, I have been stitching – but pretty much mostly exchanges. I do have a picture from a new start (like I needed one) Celtic Band Sampler by Homespun Samplars. Stitched 1 thread of DMC over 2 on Picture This Plus 40ct. in Ale.

Beautiful quilt. I think binding grows/shrinks based on the size of the quilt and the finishing deadline (real or impled) 😉
difficult teenager is redundant. But you know that. 😉 Love that quilt. Did you clip the edges before you washed? The colors on Celtic are awesome, but I’m not getting hooked in!
Love your mom’s quilt…the colors and fabrics are so pretty and that quilting pattern is the perfect finishing touch!
Oh, I love, love your mom’s quilt! It’s like my bulleye’s quilt with those edges. I can’t wait to see a picture of it when it’s completely done and washed. Love looking at those ragged edges. And wow, you did cut it close with the binding, but thank goodness there was enough. Yes, teenagers are difficult at times and like Cheryl said the term difficult teenager is a redundant term. I definitely have to agree with her.
I’ve never seen a Corpse Flower before. I’ll have to look it up and see what it looks like in bloom.

Beautiful everything! Love the quilt and new cross stitch chart! I think your son is growing out his hair so that he can look more like you! The ultimate flattery… One of my nephews had hair that long when I saw him last and I was jealous that his looked better than mine. 🙂
Love your new start. I have that kitted and waiting. Ahhh, my 14 yr old doesn’t want to cut his hair either. Hopefully he’ll get it cut before school starts.

I had to go look up the flower too, that thing is huge! It’s a neat looking plant but I think I’ll pass on a live viewing too. Gorgeous quilt, I’m sure your Mom will love it.
Heh. Every single one of my daughter’s guy friends has the same messy, dirty, unbrushed hair. The girls seem to LOVE it. Ew.

Kathy brought the box you made for her to stitching yesterday. I have to tell you it is the most wonderful gift I have ever seen. You did a masterful job of making and finishing it. Next Saturday I will be having 20 to 25 stitchers here for my annual stitching day. We all bring along some finished projects to show off and various works in progress to stitch on or get encouragement to finish…If there were ribbons available for anything…your box would definitely receive “Best in Show”
I love your new start! I have that sampler all ready to go but of course haven’t started it yet. The quilt you made–OMG!!!!! Stunning. I love it. We were in the US for about a month and I spent most of my extra $ on quilting stash. Now I wish I’d picked up some of that fabric, too. Your mom will LOVE it!
Your son is a handsome guy! LOL about the hair and brushing it. I used to lament to my friends with more than one son that I couldn’t get DS to shower, much less do something with his hair. They told me that things would change, and it has. Now, at age 16, he spends more time fixing his hair than I do to mine, and he’s never met a bottle of gel that he doesn’t like. Oy.
I love the quilt! And of course, the cat! He looks just like mine! The difficult teenager doesn’t look too bad with his long hair. My sons both had long hair phases (ds#1 had a little kid follow him around school asking if he was Jesus) and they both now ask to be taken for nice short haircuts. Just hang in there… he’ll come around.
