Back to school & so am I?

Best of intentions as usual, let’s see if I can stick with it. But I know you all will forgive me. Know why? Because I’m super busy stitching for you! That’s right, the big Halloween giveaway will be repeated this year. And it’s going to be huge! Bigger & better than last year. So watch this space (and one other, if you’ve been paying attention on Facebook & Twitter you probably know the other place too), the big announcement with all the details will post the last week of September. As of right now I have 6 projects stitched for Halloween and have the extra goodies for everyone’s package figured out. I am taking suggestions for what you all would like in the way of candy. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Ok, but what have I been doing?

I made a box for Kathy’s birthday.

Box top is stitched on 30ct. blue murano, the design is block #1 from Shores of Hawk Run Hollow by Carriage House Samplings. The exterior of the box black Kona cotton, and the inside cotton is from Timeless Treasures. ย The scissors are Lighthouse by Uncommon Scissors and I made the cabochon needle minder myself. ย Directions for making the box and removable tray are from Jackie Woolsey’s book, which I’ve recommended probably a hundred times. Fair warning, sooner or later box making is going to catch on and you all will be sorry you didn’t buy this book when it was cheap. Jackie’s lacing instructions are also the best I’ve ever found.

I made a pincushion for Ellen via Hooked on Exchanging.

From Prairie Year II by Prairie Schooler. Stitched on 32ct linen using DMC. The verse “They shall go flying with musical speeches” is from Nest Eggs by Robert Louis Stevenson (thank you Summer for finding this poem for me). ย And I added HOE 2010 to fill out the rest of the space.

I received a beautiful little needlebook from Nicole via Hooked on Exchanging.

Love this! It’s so tiny and perfect. Birds by Heart in Hand. I think Nicole used some mat board for the inside of the book, it’s very sturdy and is going to hold up to being used. And she put a lot of work into the finishing, it’s perfect.

Love the box finish – I have a book which is in French, which is a bit difficult seeing as I don’t speak french (and Google translate doesn’t help too much!) … I might have to check this one out as an additional resource to my French one … hmmm ๐Ÿ˜€
