Curios & Flamingos

Only one of each, but the plural has a nicer ring to it I think.

Already junked up with all some of my crap. Too many people with too much money at that auction! I paid my max for this (I always decide before bidding starts what my max on any item is – and I stick to it, cuts way down on the buyers remorse with the bonus I don’t over pay). But anyway, I got it. I’m thrilled with it. Plus dh & I got it in the house all set up with no damage. It’s about 7 ft tall with 4 glass shelves (they each have grooves for plates cut in them too – not that I’m gong to put plates in there, but still…). The wood is Walnut. It’s lighted and the door glass is beveled too. I still got a deal on it even though I had to pay my max, it’s a quality piece and will be with me forever.

And second shelf from the top…

Four little mermaids followed me home.

Awwww…. look at her dear little face. She’s so cute I’m sure she farts rainbow colored bubbles. Not my usual thing, but they got me. Oh and they were totally cheap. That helped. Or else they could go be cute in someone else’s house.

Now for the flamingo bit.

I did tweak it a tiny bit. I pretty much copied someone the Chat BB. I liked hers better, so I made mine like hers. Which is one of the big advantages to joining an online project late or being a generally slow stitcher.

Here’s where I was Saturday night.

When I screamed and shoved it off to the corner. That green for the corner flower. WRONG freakin’ green. I’m so mad. It was my fault. That doesn’t make me any less mad. Sunday morning I frogged out the mistake and this all the further I’ve gotten (I did have to take a couple hours away from home to go pick up my curio, it was too difficult to try and remove it right after the auction).

The little flamingo medallion only took me one evening. And if I quit making mistakes and actually dedicate some time to this part, I can see each one taking only a couple of days. Yeah part 3 done by week’s end. hahahahahahaha :deep breath: hahahahahahahaha

Nice score on the curio cabinet. I have recently decided I need one too, so I can actually unpack from boxes all my cool knicknacks!

I like the mermaids too-they do have sweet faces.

Your Carib is making really want to sign up for the class. It is looking really good.

Your curio is gorgeous!!! And so are the flamingos. Can’t wait to see more progress. I love looking at your WIP photos.

The mermaids are beautiful too. Nothing like a good curio… Now you need another one for stitching pieces! LOL….

I love your curio – makes me think I might need something like that for my dining room – though I have no lovely mermaids and such to fill it up with… maybe some of the nice heirloom dishes I have in my cabinets would look nice though….hmmmm

  6. So glad you were able to get your curio! It is beautiful and looks great all full. Your stitching, as always is beautiful – sorry about the color – I hate when I do that. BTW, girls, women and certainly little, tiny mermaids don’t fart – they toot. At least that’s what my mother always said! LOL

  7. Love the ‘go! You are motoring right along – slow stitcher my arse! And, yay for the curio! I have cabinet envy. I need more space for my crap. DH says get rid of the crap. Stupid boy.

    Rainbow Bubbles lol!

I’m so drooling over that curio! Boy, it IS nice! What a wonderful DH you have to help you out with getting it!

  9. Sara says:

Oooh, a flamingo! Nice job so far, I was kind of hoping for one of the big ones though:)

WTG on the curio too, I need to get one of those someday to lock up all the stuff the dog would otherwise knock off my shelves/tables with his massive tail.

Thanks for the input on Bluebell. I decided to make me happy and just buy her and start her now rather than later. I’ll finish the other stuff later.

  10. Good for you on finding your cabinet, and sticking to your guns to get it!! I like it! Your Chatelaine is looking fabulous! Those flamingos should be in my house, for sure. If only I’d start my “Caribbean!” LOL

  11. Darla says:

Great score on the curio!!! And I am in *awe* of your stitching prowess!

  12. Melissa C. says:

Oh wow, the cupboard is beautiful! I’m jealous!

  13. Melissa says:

Ok the curio cabinet is nice but those mermaids, freakin’ SWEET! How cute are they? I’m not normally a cutesy mermaid girl but those are the exception.
