Poison Pumpkins, Mutants; the usual stuff.

Loretta sent me an email saying her package arrived.

This stocking is Deadly Nightshade and somehow a black pumpkin fit. I figure it’s poisonous too.  The black & burnt orange pumpkins were my favorite. Not to say the purple wasn’t awesome, but when I had them all sitting together it was the black I kept picking up to play with.

From the Things I Wish I Stitched Thursday files:

Since we’ve already established I have the weirdest sense of humor it won’t come as a surprise that I about fell off my chair laughing and briefly considered having another baby just so I could dress he/she up as a mutant. Linky for all the lucky Mom’s out there with a mutant to be.

HoHRH

Lots of progress while getting my stitch ass on & watching some Firefly.

Quilt 101: Figured it out!!! With 45 minutes worth of LQS’ time.

Wow, there’s a whole lot going on here now. Which was the look I wanted, but I was going monochrome because there is no way I could do this on my own. Well… maybe now there is. (sorry colors are a bit weird, sun coming through the dining room window)

See that little red thingie? Look at your fabric (or threads, I’m always thinking cross stitch) through it and it shows you the color values. No more guessing! They whipped one of these out to figure out the colors for the fence rail and I had to have one.  (and I bought 4 more fat quarters for the quilt too, I probably don’t *need* them, but they’re cute & they match)

You know that baby picture freaked me out at first. I have no idea why. I had equally odd photos of my children that I had fun with. I didn’t get many comments. Maybe it’s too dark? Oh well that’s the joy of the holiday right?

Of course, I had to rush right over! Things I am in love with…1) that black pumpkin – I need one. Three ladies brought finished pumpkins to guild Tues night – there was a white one I wanted to take home, but oh…my love of the black one!!! 2) the fabrics for your quilt – they are fabulous!!! I couldn’t have done that on my own either. Love them. I may need to do another rail fence soon. We won’t speak of the fact that the one I’m working on has taken three months so far. 3) that Ruby Beholder – must.have. That is all! Oh, P.s. – HRH looks fab.

Well, that baby took me by surprise for a minute until I realized that the third hand was a doll’s hand. Then I laughed. Where do you find this stuff? I think I like that color combo so much better and you’ll find that the color value tool will help you out immensively (I have a hard time trying to pick colors for a quilt too). I just love what fabrics you put together (not that I didn’t like the others), but there is more personality to these!! And good start on HOHRH. Now I did laugh when you mentioned picking up four more fat quarters! HA! Fabric is like potato chips, you can’t just buy one, nor can you rarely leave a quilt store without buying something!!

  4. I cannot keep up with you. The baby arm is hysterical. The DDs just ran in to see what I was LMAO about. They thought it was hysterical, too. The fabbies are good together. Lookin forward to progress shots.

ROFLOL That costume is kinda freaky! For a second there…

HRH looks great. Hmm, our WIPs have nearly the same border, lol!

That costume “got” me for a second, too.
I picked up some crystals and pins today at the LNS to try out making some ornamental pins! Hope they’ll work… I DID look for black pins, because of course yours were only the coolest thing ever, but I didn’t see any. The owner said she had never seen such a thing.

  7. MarieP says:

Wow, the baby is so beautiful that I did not even notice the creepy costume. 🙂
As for your comment on my blog re:MIA stitchers….I SO want to list their names, and still might 😀 ~ I too feel like this would be a deterrent and will NEVER know why people fail to meet their obligations.

  8. I’m beginning to think you are one sick dude, Missy Ann. Unlike your friend, Deborah, who is angelic and soleful. Imagine you and a 3-armed baby running around in your mind!! LOL Love your quilt fabrics. They look like some of mine. Maybe great minds do think alike and all that… 😛

  9. Valerie says:

Wonderful picks for your Quilt 101 project! And good progress on HoHRH.

For a second…I thought that baby really had a third arm! lol

  10. Erin says:

Ooo ooo ooo, I’m due in March!!!! hehehe And after having irritating family members email us pictures of the standard baby pumpkins, ladybugs, and other “cute” things this year…..I’m sooo ready to shock them with something like this next year. LOL
(I was already thinking of dressing her as Pubert Addams. teehee)

  11. Gabi says:

Your Halloween give away to Loretta is awesome. Love that stocking and also the black pumpkin.
The baby is hilarious…even more your thoughts about it.
Love your fabrics and the beholder is a fantastic idea

  12. Anne S says:

That’s a great idea for quilting – looks like a really handy tool 🙂

  13. Siobhan says:

ROFLOL–that is a great costume!! LOL

Great progress on your HRH piece, and love the package that you sent Loretta, too!

  14. Autumn says:

I love in the directions for the 3 arm costume how you have to buy 2 outfits because few baby clothes come with three arms.

  15. Carol says:

Oh, that baby is freaky–too funny! Your quilt will be lovely, Missy Anne–love all of the colors you picked 🙂

  16. JenJen3574 says:

Love your choices for the quilt. 🙂 I see my favorite fabbie made the cut. Looking forward to some progress pics. 🙂

  17. Patti says:

I just LOVE the fabrics you chose for your quilt. I am so into quilting now as well as stitching and my DH said, quite rightly, that I have no time anymore and I so don’t!
    Love
    Patti xxx

I love the mutant baby! DH and I would so do that to this kid if he’d let us:)
